Ann and Alan Blackie look forward to providing you with accommodation, assisting with travel bookings and suggestions of walks and local attractions.
Ann has had a career in the nursing profession in Christchurch in nursing education, nursing management and latterly as a District Nurse. Alan managed his own business as a motor vehicle repairer, served on the National Board of the Motor Trade Association and completed three terms as a Waimakariri District Councillor. They now have the time to look after you, their guests.

Collingwood Park Motel - Sustainability Policy

We take very seriously the Reduce, Reuse, Recycle philosophy with regard to our business and waste policy and try to reduce waste to landfill by

• The rubbish containers in our units (which are made of recycled material) are paper lined thus saving approx 2000 plastic bin liners
• We recycle plastics, glass and paper and provide bins for use by our guests
• We divert the majority of food scraps to our active worm farm and compost bin
• Use a bokashi system for composting all material unsuitable for the worm farm
• Use the resulting compost in our home vegetable garden
• We encourage, but do not compel, guests to reuse towels
• All washing machines for motel and guests use cold water
• Laundry is line dried and guests are welcome to use the washing lines
• We reduce energy use by using energy saving light bulbs where possible and switching off televisions and fridges when units are not in use
• Milk is dispensed in jugs rather then the industry norm of individual plastic bottle or cartons
• Generally our surplus bedding and curtains are given to our local community workers for recycling
• We use soap dispensers to avoid the need for disposal of small plastic containers
• Toilet paper (recycled paper) is dispensed as bulk rolls
